Before qualifying as a psychotherapist I worked as a teacher at secondary level. I changed careers and obtained a Diploma in Systemic Therapy from the Department of Child and Family Psychiatry, Mater University Hospital, Dublin. This is a four-year course which includes intensive clinical supervision and requires further years of supervised practice after qualifying. I am now an accredited member of the Family Therapy Association of Ireland (F.T.A.I.). In addition to the diploma in systemic family therapy, my qualifications include B.A. (UCD), H.D.E and B.A. Theol (Maynooth), a master’s degree from Trinity College, Dublin and a doctorate in psychotherapy from All Hallows/Dublin City University.
I have done many courses since qualifying and my experience includes working in areas such as anger management, parenting, relationships, family conflict, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, stress and couples relationships.
I am fully insured and attend regular clinical supervision.
As a member of the FTAI, I am bound by their code of ethics and attend on-going professional training courses to continue the development of my practice.
